January 2016 Special Meetings

Faulkton Area School District 24-4 Board of Education

Wednesday, January 20, 2016
8:00 a.m.

The special meeting of the Faulkton Area Schools 24-4 Board of Education was called to order by Chairman Heather Bode at 8:04 a.m. in the elementary library.

Roll call of members present were Kelly Aesoph, Heather Bode, Todd Brand, and Grady Heitmann. Absent:  Gary Bowar. Also present were Business Official Lisa Raethz, High School Principal/AD Craig Cassens, and Jody Moritz.

2015-16.88. Agenda. Motion by Aesoph, seconded by Brand, to approve the proposed agenda.

2015-16.89. Superintendent Opening. The board reviewed 3 proposals from consulting companies available to contract with for assistance and expertise in the Superintendent hiring process.  Chairman Bode had visited with all three companies and relayed a lot of information to the other board members. Raethz had also contacted other business managers for their experiences with these companies.  The board thought hiring one of these companies would be in the best interest of the district.  These companies are known for recruiting qualified applicants that are interested in the position as well as handling the application process and guiding the district through the interview/hiring/contract process.  The board felt this expense would be more beneficial than advertising in numerous newspapers in and out of state. The position would still be published in our local newspaper and on the Associated School Boards of SD website.  Motion by Heitmann, second by Aesoph, to advertise for the Superintendent position, and to contract with Dakota Education as a consulting firm to assist in the Superintendent hiring process.  Unanimous.

2015-16.90. Adjournment. Motion by Aesoph, second by Heitmann, to adjourn at 8:26 a.m. All in favor, motion carried.
